Playervlle.com was founded by J. Anthony “Tony” Van Ness, a former Division III Football and Tennis player. He grew up in upstate New York and attended law school where he continued his athletics through Rugby. He learned that playing sports and being part of a team is a recipe for success and happiness in life both on and off the playing field. He also learned that dreams of playing sports for a living are often short lived and you have to make the most of your opportunities.

After establishing a real estate law firm in South Florida, Tony wanted to be involved with helping athletes fulfill their dreams by making the most of the opportunity of youth. He began assisting collegiate and foreign soccer players finding teams in the United States Soccer League in 2006 through a company he started named Wave Crest Sports International (“Wave Crest”). He quickly found it very time consuming to gather and transfer information to prospective coaches and teams. He also found that there were hundreds of athletes that needed his assistance in finding teams and he could not help everyone with the present structure. Given the fact Wave Crest was not set up to “make money” but as a hobby to keep involved with sports, he wanted to find a way to help any athletes who requested assistance and Playerville.com idea was born.

Playerville allows member althetes to post biographical information, photos, video and much more while acting as a portal through which the player and coach can communicate. The web site is free for both coaches and players.

This enables athletes from all means and backgrounds to increase their chances of finding the right team. Tony’s philosophy is that even if only one player ever used the website and we were able to put them with a team, we would be successful.

On February 2009, the beta launch of Playerville.com occurred and both coaches and players alike have been very enthusiastic. We have offices on the East Coast and West Coast and are focusing on the United States with expansion in the future.
